AV Rant #160: Troubleshooting Xmas

December 24th, 2009

Tom has Clint for a guest host because… well… he’s been busy. No excuses here, we’ll have a listener on next week. For this podcast Tom and Clint had a bunch of topics but really only covered one – what to do with all that new Christmas gear you unwrapped. If you didn’t get any, well, never fear, your day will come. Clint and Tom address such problems as faulty wiring, hanging projectors, running power, hooking up amps, and careful planning. This may be the podcast you want to keep on your iPod for future reference. Hope everyone had/has a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Thanks for listening and don’t forget to vote for us at Podcast Alley. To see our (mostly) complete collection of show videos, click here. To get our iPhone app, visit the iTunes store.

How many times have you heard this during troubleshooting someone’s system… “oh, it’s only working because you’re here.”

Loved this podcast… looking forward to more “talking shop” episodes.

I’m not going to address all of the mistakes you made when summarizing my rant. I know it was long. I would, however, like to state for the record that I did try to educate the man.

The problem was that they had gone to a wedding that night and were blitzed when they returned home. I tried to explain the corrections I had made as they shoved McDonald’s into their mouths, but after their recent comments, I’m afraid nothing really stuck.

Hey David, mistakes or no, I thought it was a great story.

My wife is also glad to hear I’m not the only nut who eye’s other people’s remotes once they step out the room.

I just can’t help myself, I usually do ask permission before tweaking but I’ve been known to take matters into my own hands.

    David,

With your permission, I’ll print the rant as you sent it to me or you can send me a newer version to print. And I agree, it was a great story (both my way and yours).

FYI – I’ve found the PE ground loop isolator works for $10:
