AV Rant #210: Blue

December 17th, 2010

Technical difficulties and blue language plague this podcast. Sorry about that. We’re working on getting Liz’s mic setup up and running ASAP. It may be a shorter podcast, but it is packed full of topics (and lots of off topic stuff as well). Tom’s got a big announcement (well, it’s big for him, maybe not so exciting for you) but you’ll have to wait for the end. 3D and Internet connectivity isn’t selling TVs? Shocking! Eizo has a new 3D TV that Tom can’t afford but wouldn’t mind checking out. Studios continue to hamstring rental outlets – now at the expense of the hearing impaired. Tom finds the new big Happy Meal giveaway, only it costs $350. Oh well. France has something that Tom wants. If we didn’t insult you, your country, your sense of decency, your desire to hear things pronounced correctly, or your handicap this week, we’ll try to get to you next. There was only so much time. Thanks for listening and don’t forget to vote for us at Podcast Alley! To see our (mostly) complete collection of show videos, click here. To get our iPhone app, visit the iTunes store.

Good to have you back, Liz! Those AVRant banner ads over at Audioholics definitely need an update – lol. You do know the presidential election wrapped up over two years ago now, yes? :p

Tom’s book, Bob Moore: No Hero, is really good! Tom was kind enough to let me preview the story (one of the perks of constantly pestering him like the git that I am :p ) and it’s a very enjoyable and imagination-stirring read!

Tom’s created some excellent characters – I’m a particular fan of Ted and Liz (hey – those sound like familiar AVRant-related names… well I’ll be… ). It’s great that Tom’s plan is to turn this into a series (he’s already writing the sequel) because I can’t wait to visit with some of these characters again.

The beginning really draws you in and hooks you right away. I love that this first book is shorter in length and a fast read. Much like many movies, I feel that stories are often better told when there is an urgency to the storytelling and not a lot of time wasted on fatty, needlessly bloated ponderances.

Everyone should definitely download and read ‘No Hero’ when it is published. I can almost guarantee you’ll be hooked and find yourself finishing the tale in one sitting, like I did. I was really impressed and I hope that everyone will join me in encouraging Tom to continue with this series because this first book really does just scratch the surface and I can’t wait to see where things go from here!

    This can’t be good.

Oh, Ted. Just you wait until you read the description of your namesake in the book…
