    Re: “Da Twoll”

    Soundproof, Tom… soundproof.

    It’s me, dude! Soundproof means soundproof, not “acoustically treated” (although I’d want my new soundproof room to be acoustically treated too, of course :p )

    Oh, I know how when most people say, “I want to put soundproofing on my walls” what they REALLY mean is that they want acoustic panels. But *I* mean soundproof when I write soundproof – you know, QuietRock walls and ceiling, floated floor, room-within-a-room construction…soundproof, man!

    Didn’t we have this conversation before?

    :p

    Hey all: I’m a new subscriber to the podcast. I was just listening to the section where you described how Redbox might be smart to move into streaming through Walmart. I’m not sure if you’re aware of this today but Wal-Mart already has a streaming service available on PS3, Samsung TVs and other devices called VUDU. It was acquired in March 2010; see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vudu for more information.

    Grammer buddy, that reads like you want to rock out in your very own padded cell. What’s the W.A.F. on this issue? Might this scare away current and future prospects? Think again man.

    @lesser evil

    You kiddin’? What woman wouldn’t want a soundproof room into which I would disappear for hours and leave her alone for a bit? :p

    Been using Firewire since 1997. At the time, it was the only interface that could handle the bitrates needed for DV video capture and multichannel audio recording. Today, I use FW for my two external drives and my Presonus audio interface.

    I guess Thunderbolt will make FW and USB 3.0 obsolete… if anyone supports it. Just like DisplayPort got supported. =D

    I’m guessing Thunderbolt will work over a distance of 1 meter max… but perhaps not. We’ll see.
