AV Rant #244: Too Much Coffee
Tom was a bit over-caffienated for this podcast so they went a bit long and had to cut the Soup to Nuts. Tune in next week for the conclusion of Liz’s streaming advice. Tom has a few things to say about the new Pioneer Elite SC-57 (specifically the amps), the Genesis 7.2f Loudspeakers, and HDMI. Liz on GoogleTV, movies in 2011, a CEPro article, and 3D glasses. Apparently, AV Rant broke TheSixtyOne.com. Tom and Liz complain that they didn’t have any takers on their Google+ Hangout but, right after the podcast, they had a great one with quite a few listeners (shout out to Chris C who needs to invest in a mic, Rich, and Kerry). Sharp and Pioneer resurrect the Elite line of displays, this time with LED, 240Hz processing, and yellow. Thanks for listening and don’t forget to vote for us at Podcast Alley! Friend Tom and Liz on Google+ to join in on one of our hangouts.

Ahh, 3D glasses. I still can’t believe that all of the manufacturers were so stupid as to think it was a good idea to have glasses that only worked on one brand of television! That was the stupidest thing ever!
But now we have this sort of “battle” between passive polarized glasses and active-shutter glasses, and I honestly think that might be the only reason why pretty much all of the active-shutter brands have decided to get together with XpanD for a standard that can be used across all of their brands. Nothing like a common enemy to unite competitors!
Hey Tom, I know you guys at Audioholics like to dig into the claims of interconnects and cables. Here’s an interesting one…
Claim of visible signal difference in A/B comparison of two cables:
