AVRant #15: Freaky Penguins Must Die
August 16th, 2007
Tom and Dina catch up on their mini-movie reviews (hence the title of the episode). Tom reveals how his evil son broke his sub (guess how happy he is about that?). They discuss man caves, what can go in them and what Tom would want in his. Dina hints at a girl cave which will be the topic of a future Podcast. Tom’s visit to Boston rounds off the episode. See you next week!

Ahh, the man cave…I can’t wait till I have a house, just so I can get one. Until then I have my man room/dining area :-/.
Nice to see some men sticking to their guns I am also a non-microwave user.
Also, those arcade machines are pretty easily built . All you have to do is load the roms (games) onto a computer and follow simple plans which can be found online.
Here are a couple sites: http://www.mameroom.com/products.asp

Jim might be able to go a little more in depth as his man cave has one.
Eragon was the worst movie I saw all this year (saw it on DVD)… It was like somebody threw up the plot onto a script and then wiped away anything that made you care about any of the characters… and then shuffled the storyline like a deck of cards… and then dropped a few cards and didn’t bother putting them back in… and then took the last 10 pages or so of the script and threw them away too (who needs a real ending or closure anyway?) I had more fun watching the American Chopper guys build the Eragon-themed bike than the movie…
I think my man-cave would definitely have either a Foosball table or a pool table… but not if either interfered with the maximum capacity home theater… come to think of it, I don’t see how I could do with less than a double-room with sealed doors… one for entertaining and pone for the theater… and while were at it an indoor swimming pool would be nice…
I just finished watching Fracture. I really enjoyed it, but I have to comment on the sound. The movie is basically a talky courtroom drama, but some of the surround effects were incredible. I don’t recall ever hearing such realistic surround sound before. I have a 5.1 system, but I swear I heard effects from above and directly behind. The few drum beats came though with authority and added to the suspense.
Joe Bob says check it out.
My mancave would have a theater in the front and a small kitchen/bar in the back.
Shoot, now I’ll have to update my website and actually add pictures of the arcade machine to it. You can see part of my man cave (and we actually call it that sometimes) by clicking on my name up there… I only have computers, an arcade machine, and a home theater in the man cave. There’s not much room for anything else. Oh, and there’s a poster of Master Chief hanging on the wall as you come down the stairs, too! Can’t forget about him!
