This time it wasn’t my fault…

April 2nd, 2008 3 comments

I’m always talking about how I break the site but this time it wasn’t my fault. We’ve been using Podtrac (I need to remember to get rid of that survey down there) for a while to track our podcast but when we updated, it broke. That’s a problem. So today, we gave in to the pack mentality and changed over to Feedburner. What does that mean? Well, we broke the feed. If you subscribe via RSS to the blog feed so that you get all the posts and the podcasts, it doesn’t work any more. Well, it works, it just only sends the podcast and not the blog entries. For you people, you’ll need to update to this feed. For everyone else, you’re OK (and you’re not reading this so you don’t care). Sorry about the confusion. We still love you, I swear.

This Episode of Knight Rider…

February 29th, 2008 9 comments

…ruined for you by Ford!

Now, like many of you, I watched Knight Rider as a kid. It was a bit hokey but fun. Kitt was always the draw for me as was some of the stunts. Sometimes, when they come out with one of these retro shows or movies, I can’t help but be excited. It just pulls at those nostalgia strings like nobody’s business. You get suckered in.

Not so with Knight Rider.

I hadn’t read a review or even talked about it with others. I wasn’t too surprised or upset that they switched cars. I had no idea who was in it so I didn’t have an opinion there either. But it sat on my DVR for days before I could muster up the motivation to watch it. It was like there was something inside me… a 6th sense if you will… that it was going to stink. And oh God, did it! Don’t read on if you don’t like spoilers… Read more…

CES Decompression

January 16th, 2008 Comments off

For a scant few hours, I was the man. The top dog. The pwner of Audioholics. Why? Show coverage. On our old site, there were a max of 5 articles on the front page – now there are twenty. On the old site, every once-in-a-while I’d have all five of the articles. With 20 on the new site I never thought it would happen. Until today. 19 show coverage articles and one editorial. For a moment, I was king.

But now that I’m done with all that and CES is officially behind me, what’s the verdict? Was CES a success? Was it the mind-blowing experience many think it ought to be? Well, let’s break it down: Read more…

Go to our ustream page to see is in action (or inaction). We’re going to try to keep this feed going as much as possible. I’m the only one here (not sure what the deal is with the other guys, they were supposed to be here by now) but I’ll be keeping the feed open until I go to bed. CES 2008 baby!!!

Streaming Audio-Video from CES

January 3rd, 2008 7 comments

First of all, sorry about stalling on the countdown to CES mini-casts. As we get closer, we get busier. We’re trying to get more to you now.

As all of you that have subscribed to email notifications already know, I created a ustream page. What’s ustream? It’s a way of streaming audio and video over the net to just about anyone. What’s most important is that it is free. Free to you and free to me.

I first looked into ustream because I wanted a way for people to watch Dina and I Podcast. That way you’d not only get the unedited Podcasts but also have a chance to interact. The problem is that Dina and I aren’t close enough so that we can Podcast in the same room and there is no really viable way for you to see both of our feeds without delay problems. So the idea was scrapped.

Until CES 2008.

While the lovely, demure, and armed Dina won’t be in attendance, Clint, Gene, Tony and I will. We’ll be Podcasting at least once and I plan on keeping the feed running as often as I can. You can watch and hear us Podcast, work, and everything else. Ustream also has an IM function so you can ask some questions as well. It should make for a pretty cool time.

In order to use the IM function, you need to be a member of ustream so you might want to run over there and register now. Also, CES is in Las Vegas so we’ll probably be broadcasting later in the day. You might have to put off your late night frag fests for a few days in order to participate. I’d highly recommend you sign up for email notifications (you can do that below). I’ll be writing a quick post so that people will know when we’re going live.

Now, I will say that this is all predicated on the assumption that the Internet at our hotel doesn’t suck. We’ll see.
