Healing 4 Haiti
Tom suggested I take the time to let all you AV Rant readers/listeners know about a record project I have just finished work on. Healing 4 Haiti, a compilation of 15 songs, was released last week by Integrity Music on iTunes. All net proceeds from the sale of this album will support relief efforts in Haiti including clean water, shelter, medical care and other critical aid from Samaritan’s Purse. It will also support the work of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s Rapid Response Team, who had chaplains on the ground within 24 hours of the earthquake providing emotional and spiritual comfort to survivors.
I have never been a part of a project (in the record business) that has moved this quickly. Within a few days of the earthquake, Grammy Award-winning artist Michael W. Smith had written a song with the hope of raising awareness of the needs in Haiti. He assembled an all-star cast of over 100 artists in Nashville to record the song, “Come Together Now.” He called his friend Franklin Graham (head of Samaritan’s Purse & the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association) to let him know that half of the proceeds from the sale of this song on iTunes would be given to Samaritan’s Purse (the other half to the American Red Cross). Franklin decided to take it a step further by enlisting other artists and putting together an entire album. Integrity Music came on board the moment we called them, and every artist I contacted wanted to be involved.
The resulting project, Healing 4 Haiti, leads off with Come Together Now, and continues with a diverse selection of songs from artists of many different genres. All artists gave their songs, and I took several to Haiti to see first hand not only the devastation, but also the work being done by Samaritan’s Purse and BGEA to help.
Regardless of your taste in music, you will find something that suits you on the record. From Flyleaf to Mary Mary, Israel Houghton to Hawk Nelson, Lincoln Brewster to Lecrae – it’s all here. There is something for everyone. The compilation is $9.99 and available now on iTunes – the physical CD will be released on March 16th. All net proceeds will go to the Haiti relief efforts by the BGEA and Samaritan’s Purse.
Thanks for considering purchasing Healing 4 Haiti. It will help with what is an enormous, long term problem. On my two recent trips into Port au Prince, I met dozens of amazing people who are struggling to survive. Well over 1 million people are without a home, and the death toll is staggering. Many still cannot retrieve the bodies of their loved ones in the rubble. The rainy season has started, and thousands need shelter. Thanks for checking this out!
I’m digging the music so far!
it’s diverse – everything from rock to worship. Hopefully everyone will find something they like. And it’s a great cause!
