AV Rant #753: ToneWinner, Denon Bummer

May 7th, 2021 Comments off

Denon & Marantz have a workaround for their 8K Receivers that couldn’t pass through 8K. But it’s a huge missed opportunity, in our opinion. And we tackle the confusion surrounding the brands ToneWinner, Emotiva, and Jade Designs.

AV Rant #752: You Had Me at Tedium

April 30th, 2021 Comments off

There’s a new Apple TV 4K, and the Color Balance calibration feature…doesn’t work? Maybe Apple will improve it over time. Or maybe they know that most people don’t actually like a truly accurate image when they first see it, so the minimal changes are intentional? Regardless, just putting your TV into an accurate picture mode to begin with is easier.
