There’s a reason you didn’t hear a difference between CD and SACD. To paraphrase Peter Cook, you are equipped with the human ear, and the human ear can’t hear a difference between CD and SACD:

The alternative to choosing equipment based on measurements is to choose it based on an emotional reaction to it. This is fine if it floats your boat but it leads to fickleness and irrational fussiness. It also might explain the emotional reactions to criticism of a favorite piece of equipment.
