AVRant #153: Kids and Speakers

November 5th, 2009

This week Tom and Dina tackle a number of listener questions including where to place surround speakers and which type are the best (according to Tom). John has a question about why we calibrate displays to 6500k. Best Buy is looking to get out of Brick and Mortar? Kids and speakers – what to consider. Home theater seating – what to look out for. Follow Tom on Twitter here and take our new poll (on the right). Thanks for listening and don’t forget to vote for us at Podcast Alley.

Yes, nice Photoshop job on the coffee donation pic, Tom. And Jeremy, bravo, sir, bravo – lol

Having power recline (Tom called it “automatic”) is definitely nice. I’ve never opted for it yet myself, but I hadn’t thought about what Tom mentioned with his in-laws having some trouble with the spring in a manual recline footrest.

I bought a new reclining leather sofa recently (as Tom mentioned). But it’s just your typical 3-seat sofa with no cup-holders and only the outer two seats recline. I ordered a footstool for the center seat :p

I like the design though and, most importantly, it is comfortable. I also got it at – what I think – was a very good price, so I’m happy with it 🙂 I had very limited space, so true theater recliners just weren’t going to fit. If you can afford the price and the physical space though, some of the theater recliners out there are REALLY nice!
