AVRant #34: Shacking the house

December 27th, 2007

Tom’s tired and cranky and a bit more mean than usual. Let the hate mail fly! Dina went to the movies – and didn’t have a terrible time. What’s wrong with zombies? Tom and Dina discuss. How much weight should you place on the Contrast Ratio spec? Tom gives you the inside scoop. How does Tom do at parties? Not well. If you’ve got $100-$200 to spend on a sub, what should you buy? Tom gives his opinion. Does Tom have “golden” ears? What’s the deal with electrostats? Are they worth the price? What about Bose headphones? Dina didn’t do her homework. Clint made a difference in someone’s life – and we can all feel good about that. Jeff Gerstmann’s firing is briefly discussed. Thanks for listening and have a great New Year.

Couldn’t agree with you more on the subwoofer subject. I have a very small home theater room(just under 800 cubic ft) so I figured a small budget sub would get the job done. To make a long story short, I just ended up ordering a PB12-Plus/2 to replace it. All the cheap sub was really good for, was making me want somthing better.

That was a good podcast. Tom admits he doesn’t have golden ears, Dina succumbs to the power of zombie movies, Audioholics made a difference in someone’s life and all is right with the world of home theater…. for now.
