AVRant #49: Explicit 24p
March 11th, 2008
RIP Gary Gygax. You’ll be missed. Clint and Tom tackle a bunch of questions from you. Ken, Rick, Cliff and Ed… thanks for the questions. What’s the deal with Blu-ray Profile 1.1 and 2.0 and receivers that decode internally? How does bass management work with Blu-ray out over HDMI? Ever think about soundproofing a room? Tried to train your family/neighbors and failed? Perhaps you’re interested in Green Glue. What does THX stand for? We can’t promise you’ll know by the end of this Podcast. Do receivers all sound the same? Is 24p important? So many composite inputs, so little need for them. Thanks for listening and don’t forget to vote for us at Podcast Alley.

Let’s see. Maybe we can hook up some old video game systems up to those composite and S-Video ports. Nintendo, Sega Master System, Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, N64, Playstation 1, Sega Dreamcast, etc… Does an Atari 2600 have a composite port? That sure would be sweet upscaled on my 106″ screen. That’s like 2 pixels per inch or something. *laugh*
I would love to trade more power for alot fewer composite & S-video inputs. Not sure that’s even feasible. But are any of those companies listening?????
I would have loved to have Dina there with you two guys so she could have asked “Wha…?”
24p, 1080i, HDMI, THX, I think I now understand what’s it like to be wired out of phase!
Good stuff.
Yeah, that one was a little techy. I guess I’ll have to translate from Clint to English in the future. 🙂
THX Level II ?! Good stuff. …. I played this episode outloud here at work. Evryone here thinks im the Home Theater Guru, cus I have a HDTV and 5.1… But now they have learned something form the Masters mouths them selfs
