AVRant #78: I Choose Life
A bit talk about the recent AV Rant contest and an interlude into Regis and Kathy Lee. A brief discussion of The King of Kong. Thanks Jeremy for the LARP pic (see below). Sycophants are pathetic – according to Tom. Dina wants to know why some movies start automatically and others don’t. Magic. Dina has the most technically inept friend ever. A few minutes on video games. Jack Thompson is getting disbarred (yea!) and possibly going to Gitmo (double yea!). The Army is upgrading their recruitment offices to full arcades. Metal Gear Solid 4 has been delayed in Japan to reduce stabbings. Tom can’t wait for a new series on G4. Jacksonville might be an early DTV adopter. If so, Tom will keep you updated. Dina has a “solution” that will make going to the movies more enjoyable. A brief discussion of Indiana Jones in a variety of mediums. Why are there still games in the world that default to stereo? Does AV Rant need MORE compression? Tom and Dina discuss. Bang & Olufsen has a new(ish) $20,000 display with a robot arm. Gimmick? Sure. But is it useful? Probably… if you use it right. Yet another from Alex – this one about dynamic volume control. Thanks for listening and don’t forget to vote for us at Podcast Alley.

“If you are interested there is a Donkey Kong kill screen coming up.”
I could not believe some of those people are for real.
Check out this Billy Mitchell clip for those who don’t know who the King of Kong is about.

“My what a fierce sword Gene has!”
He just needs to look at a few more tightly bodiced wenches. That’ll fix it right up.
Don’t add any more compression. The podcast sounds great just the way it is.
