Dina, J and the 15 minute Setup

April 24th, 2007

That’s right, the pressure’s on. I Skyped Dina and J last night (Monday) and they got their new mic, preamp, compressor and system up in about 15 minutes flat. Now, for Tom, that’s got to add some pressure. Whether he admits it or not, it’s just got to.

I mean, here I’m driving all the way up to Jacksonville to help him set up – but J did it in record time with no traveling needed. Now, since Tom’s setup is a bit more involved, there could certainly be more snags in software-related items. And he is using a PC for goodness sake… And we’ll be going over editing and other things that will help the podcast.

But doesn’t this throw down the manly gauntlet? I mean, can Tom set the gear up himself? We don’t know. You see, even though J was using a Mac and did most of the work, it sure seemed like even Dina could have followed my instructions over Skype and gotten it done in a reasonable amount of time as well. That sure is some pressure.

Yep… that sure is some pressure. I mean, what if Dina’s had done it herself… The irony. The raw irony. We might have had to change the podcast to The Dina and Tom Show after all. But I’m possibly just pontificating the possibilities of perchance… perhaps.

Can he do it? WILL he do it? Tune in tomorrow to see!

Wow, how uncomfortable do you have to be in your masculinity to worry about a girl outdoing you? How lonely it must be to sit around all day wondering if a girl has done something before you… if you’ll be outdone by a girl… I for one celebrate equal rights including the right to be challenged, nay, bested by a woman. Bully for them! There are so few worthy challengers to the Throne of Tom that to exclude half the population (especially the bikini wearing half) would make my life too boring. No, it matters not to me if Dina, J, or their dog set up their equipment faster than me. What matters is that I got someone to drive 3 hours to set it up FOR me. See, I win. 🙂

In all fairness, although I was in the room, I was reading a book throughout the entire 15 minute set-up. So, leave me out of this. This is a man vs. man competition.

PS No one drove three hours to my house, but I had TWO men setting up for me. So, actually I win.

Really, if you put J and Clint together that’s only like 1 guy… maybe 1.25… so let’s call it a draw.

Dude, I was talking to you on the setup yesterday! Took about 1/2 hour but you have to budget more time for PC’s. That’s the tithe you have to pay to the devil on Gates’ behalf.

In light of recent events, I’m starting to think that bragging about only taking 15 minutes to set up was ill advised 🙂
