New Music Poll ver. 2
March 26th, 2009
One more time with feeling. The listenership seems pretty split between leaving the music as is and Ted’s Disdress offering. One listener took up the challenge to send in something else. Simon from Denmark sent in a track – Slow Tinker. It’s a little slower tempo but the quality is very high. Please, make sure you listen longer than a few seconds before you vote. Both these songs have many different parts that I can sample for the podcast. If you like a particular section, let me know below. Vote for your favorite in the poll on the right.

As I was listening, I thought Disdress might be a bit too fast for the podcast (it is two people just talking, really), but when I got the 2:17 mark, I thought, whoa…this would be awesome for the close out. Starts off subtle, then builds quickly and then you can fade out after a few lyrics.
I like Slow Tinker too as well, but I think it builds a bit too slowly though. You need something to get in, make it’s statement, and then get out, in maybe 10 seconds (for the intro).
No thanks to both!
Oh dear. I’m very particular when it comes to music matching the character of a show. Finding that perfect piece of music can be incredibly difficult, but it can also be entirely worth the patience and effort. For now, I am voting to leave the music as is. But my highest hope is that Ted, Simon or another talented composer will take it upon him/herself to write a new tune specifically for AVRant. From what Dina said in this week’s podcast, she seems to be in favour of that as well!
Nice track, Simon! Your mix is well engineered.
Rob, as someone had previously posted, a custom track would take quite a bit of effort, but it certainly would be possible–and fun–to do. Will have to look into it…
Thanks all. Ted, I agree, a custom track would be a lot of work. And in the end, there is no guarantee that I or the listeners would like it. I think you did a great job with Disdress. Let’s let people vote a bit more for now.
